Simple, Independent Membership for Alexander Technique Teachers

ATE UK is a not-for-profit co-operative, run by and for Alexander Technique teachers. We believe in a no-frills approach—putting the needs and voices of our members first. Whether you want to be actively involved or simply enjoy the benefits of belonging, ATE UK is designed to support your independence as a teacher.

How ATE UK Works

Every member has a say in how we operate. Day-to-day running is managed by a small group of volunteer teachers who meet monthly, with two full membership meetings each year. You can participate as much or as little as you like—your involvement is entirely up to you.

Our Ethos

We encourage teachers to continue the work as set out by F.M. Alexander in his writings. Our community is built on trust, self-responsibility, and a commitment to ongoing learning—not on rigid rules or paperwork.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

We believe the best learning happens naturally—through working on yourself, sharing with colleagues, and engaging with the wider Alexander Technique community. There’s no requirement to log hours or submit forms; instead, we trust teachers to pursue growth in their own way. Workshops, work exchanges, and sharing ideas are all part of the journey.
